NBA Trade Rumors: Phoenix Suns may be looking at Ryan Anderson

New, comments

Looks like Anderson could be leaving New Orleans a little earlier than expected.

On the 4th of July, I had suggested to Seth Pollack, SBNation's NBA league manager, that the Suns should trade for Ryan Anderson.

Well, lo and behold, there is gossip that the Suns are indeed interested in Mr. Anderson. According to Jordan Schultz, the Phoenix Suns are looking to add a stretch 4 to their roster.

According to Schultz, the Suns have soured on Markieff Morris and he's likely not happy with his brother recently being traded to the Detroit Pistons.

Would Dell Demps have any interest in Markieff Morris? He is slated to make 8 million dollars per year through 2018-19. Obviously a deal would work straight up for Anderson who is set to make 8.5 million in the final year of his contract in 2015-16.

However, a 4 year commitment is a long one, despite the salary cap set to explode in a year's time. By adding this salary, it would significantly curtail the available salary cap space for the Pelicans to chase a big name small forward in the next free agency as David so aptly alluded to earlier in the day.

Perhaps a 3rd team could be included whereby the Pelicans end up with P.J. Tucker, the player whom Alvin Gentry unearthed, and at the time, preferred over Michael Beasley?

Stay tuned as to whether this rumor indeed grows some longer legs. As I stated last week, Ryan Anderson's time in New Orleans is nearing an end, but it looks like it may happen faster than any of us had initially believed.
