Watch: Anthony Davis in the gym celebrating his new extension by getting to work

New, comments

Champagne? Sleeping in? Anthony Davis would rather focus on improving, right now.

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Late Tuesday night Anthony Davis agreed to a life changing contract extension. Five years and up to $145 million. His contract is one of the largest in the league history and currently the most valuable. After a late celebratory dinner with general manager Dell Demps, head coach Alvin Gentry, AD's agent Thad Forcier, and his family it would be understandable if Davis slept in. Remember, while Anthony Davis is financially secure for life he is still just 22 years old.

Instead, Davis got right back to work in the gym. Watch as Davis works on post moves and counter-moves over both shoulders against assistant coach Kevin Hanson, who is wearing the grey shirt. Later AD is seen draining corner 3-pointer after corner 3-pointer. The coach in the red shirt? Associate head coach Darren Erman. Davis works his way around the key looking comfortable from either the left or right wing.

Finally there's a peek at defensive work. Notice that Erman goes from relatively casual observer to active participant. He is crouched in a defensive stance himself following AD's every move while talking through each and every step and movement. Erman's attention to detail and reputation as a "mini-Thibodeau" were covered by Oleh in early June.
