2015 NBA Mock Draft: Workouts in full swing, many update their predictions

New, comments

The Pelicans still don't have a pick in the first round. That could change.

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Workouts are in full swing as NBA prospects travel around the country to demonstrate their worthiness to franchises. These workouts, often without any kind of defense, have swung opinions wildly. In concert with these workouts, many writers are updating their mock drafts. In the past two days Draft Express (June 10th), Sports Illustrated (June 10th), and CBS Sports (June 9th) have published their "Mock Draft X.0". If you want to see how these have changed, remember to check out our initial compilation of mock drafts right after the lottery was completed.

Who is rising and who is falling? Emmanuel Mudiay, initially considered a lock to end up in the top four, has slid down to sixth. Sam Dekker, once thought to be a fringe lottery candidate, has dropped into the early 20's. Kristaps Porzingis, a lanky seven footer from Lativa, has usurped Mudiay in the top four.

What about the Pelicans? My personal target remains Virginia's Justin Anderson. Could the Pelicans work out a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers? That is a little more difficult. While the Brendan Haywood contract is incredibly valuable due to the Cavs already being in the luxury tax they cannot utilize that unguaranteed trade chip to facilitate a sign-and-trade. Instead they will need to use it to acquire a player already under contract. Tyreke Evans or Ryan Anderson would work in a trade. Can you imagine Ryno as a replacement if Kevin Love goes elsewhere in free agency?
