Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

1. David took a look at both the offense and defense from the 2014-15 season. One finished in the top 10 of the NBA while the other didn't finish nearly as bad as the season totals suggest.

2. The Bird Writes' staff addressed a number of key issues this past week: Dell Demps possible extensionMonty Williams potential lame duck statuswhich 2014 Pelicans should have their contracts renewed and which under-contract Pelican should be on the trade block.

3. I examined how much it will cost the Pelicans to re-sign Omer Asik. The answer is probably lower than what mainstream has and continues to voice.

4. Joe Dumars was in the news again in New Orleans. Fletcher Mackal and WDSU asserted he is still in play for a position with the Pelicans organization while the Advocate denounced the claim.

5. A couple of Pelicans had common surgical procedures. Jrue Holiday had a screw removed from his right tibia and Quincy Pondexter underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.
