Anthony Davis nominated for NBA Cares Community Assist Award

Accolades for on court performance are not enough for this superstar

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Back in January, Anthony Davis won the Community Assist Award. While being selected as an All-Star starter was an honor, the off court award obviously meant a lot to the New Orleans Pelicans superstar. Now, amid battling the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Playoffs, Pelican fans can continue to support AD's efforts off the court.

Davis has been nominated for the season-long NBA Cares Community Assist Award. 50% of decision comes from fan voting. Voting takes place all week through Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. To vote for Anthony Davis use #NBACommunityAssist and #AnthonyDavis.

Davis has been active in the community throughout the year through "AD's Flight Academy", a program serving various local nonprofits. In November, Davis helped serve dinner at the Salvation Army. December saw Davis and teammate Jeff Withey host 75 kids for a Christmas shopping spree. January featured a bowling party for 100 kids and in February he held a laser tag, bowling, and video games for 150 children in Metairie. In March, there was a special screening of the Divergent series movie, and just this month, Davis held a basketball and pizza party. All while scraping into the playoffs!

There is far more Davis has done this season, all covered in this announcement on Pelicans.com. Again, voting is this week only using #NBACommunityAssist and #AnthonyDavis. Get out there and support our superstar!
