The relationship between Anthony Davis and Monty Williams

Before the playoffs start the NBA gave a glimpse of the bond these two men share.

This is important. Far more important than many folks realize. New Orleans basketball fans should have a long enough memory to know that upsetting a superstar unnecessarily can have terrible consequences. Anthony Davis, the current NOLA superstar, loves coach Monty Williams. Not because of a quote, but because of any number of real and raw interactions we have seen between the two.

Once, the Hornets had a rather disliked coach by local and national media. Pieces and flexibility were lacking and a trade was made to increase those things. It had real, tangible negative side effects. Chris Paul felt betrayed (at worst) or simply disrespected because he was not in the communication (not decision making, just communication) loop. I noted this when discussing the potential of firing Monty after the disastrous road trip. Trading Tyson Chandler (not once, but twice) and giving Byron Scott a quick hook (while replacing him with Jeff Bower?!?) paved the road out of the Crescent City for CP3.

The NBA decided to post a short video montage highlighting the relationship between AD and Monty. I recommend you watch it. Remember, when you begin to think of trading Tyreke Evans because of his basketball IQ, the obvious connection Davis has with 'Reke.

As they say, those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
