Quick Recap: Pelicans knock off the Timberwolves

The Pelicans now sit just 2 games behind the Thunder for the 8th spot in the Western Conference standings.

The game never felt in doubt, but the Wolves managed to hang around until the fourth quarter. The Pelicans had a strong defensive performance in the first quarter, but it noticeable let up in the middle quarters. Happily, the offense had no such hiccups as New Orleans scored 25 points or more in each quarter. For the game, the team finished with a 57.3% FG% and 46.2% from three-point range.

All the starters scored in double figures save Tyreke Evans who finished with 9 points, but his excuse wasn't shooting, rather time of play. With the Pels comfortably stretching the lead out to 18 in the fourth quarter, Gordon, Pondexter and he all played reduced minutes.

Anthony Davis led the way with a sparkling line of 27 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists, but nearly the whole team put forth a nice effort as evidenced by the 36 points by the reserves.

Stay tuned for the full recap coming up soon.
