Pelicans handle the Kings, 102-88

New, comments

The Pelicans broke their 4-game losing streak with a win they absolutely had to have.

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

After the first quarter, it seemed everything the Pelicans threw up found the bottom of the net. Heck, just have a gander at Tyreke Evans' shot chart.

Can anyone recall the last time Tyreke had so many jumpers fall without an accompanying high ratio of misses? Yeah, me neither.

Surprisingly, the Kings led the Pelicans 57-52 in the third quarter, but then New Orleans went hog wild courtesy of a 36-13 run. After that, they coasted to the win despite a 39 and 20 (and 1 bad airballed free throw!) game out of DeMarcus Cousins.

For the game, Evans had 25 points, 10 assists, 2 threes and 3 rebounds. After a 6 point first half, Anthony Davis finished with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 6 blocks. Quincy Pondexter added 16 points including another 4 three pointers. Do you know that he's made 31 of 65 threes for the month of March? That's a sparkling 47.7%!!!

Stay tuned for David's full recap coming up. In the meantime, let's celebrate this much needed victory.
