Pelicans fall to Suns on final possession

A valiant effort comes up just short.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Pelicans should have never had a chance to win this game. Anthony Davis was ruled out several hours before the tip, and Tyreke Evans and Omer Asik went down with injury during the contest. Although Evans came back, he was clearly hobbled, but lo and behold, he had a chance to give the Pelicans the lead with just several ticks left on the clock.

However, this open 8-foot attempt glanced off the rim. :(

Those who watched the game on this night amid the wonderful drama of the ongoing NCAA tournament knew the effort the team put forth. However, the standings don't care one iota, so with the loss, the Pelicans are now a full game behind the Oklahoma City Thunder for the 8th seed.

Stay tuned for the full recap.
