Performance Rankings: Pelicans vs. Heat

New, comments
Rusty Costanza-USA TODAY Sports

When Tyreke Evans fouled out at the 1:23 mark, Monty Williams took over. He drew up two plays that involved Eric Gordon delivering the ball to Alexis Ajinca, the offensive hero of the night, and the Miami Heat were powerless to stop him both times.

Before we got to that point, though, the Pelicans getting into the bonus at the 9:46 mark of the 4th quarter was absolutely huge. New Orleans trailed by 9 entering the final frame as the offense slowed in the 3rd quarter, scoring just 19 points. Those 12 freebies in the final 12 minutes made the difference. Miami suddenly had to execute offensively as they couldn't rely on Goran Dragic or anyone else scoring easily in transition.

Tyreke Evans went for 19 points and 11 assists. The Pelicans are now 10-3 when he hits double digits in the dimes category.

Dante Cunningham had a a double-double. Incidentally, the Pelicans move to 6-1 when he scores in double figures.

As mentioned though, Alexis Ajinca was the stud of the night: 24 points (only missed 1 FG attempt), 8 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Stay tuned for Quentin's full recap coming up shortly, but for now, let's enjoy this 4-game winning streak in the comments section.
