With Jrue Holiday sitting out another game of a back-to-back, it will be Ish Smith, not Eric Gordon, who starts alongside Tyreke Evans in the back court for the Pelicans. It appears the coaching staff is set on making Gordon a sixth man, perhaps in the mold of Jamal Crawford.
Regardless of who starts, New Orleans is going to need measurable production from starters and reserves alike. The team has hit another rough patch as they've lost 3 straight games by an average margin of 14.7 points. Any way you slice it, the basketball has not been good.
Unless it's near the end of the season, I don't like to categorize games as 'must wins' but New Orleans could really use a victory tonight. Although Holiday will be sidelined, only Quincy Pondexter remains on the injured list. The team is running out of excuses and their confidence can't be that far behind.
