Anthony Davis is the key tonight. Yes, Brandon Knight and Eric Bledsoe are excellent players who are imminently capable of superb performances. And yes, Ryan Anderson has been incandescent in his past three games. Still, the ultimate arbiter of this game's result will be the New Orleans Pelicans MVP candidate. If he is engaged and aggressive on the glass then Alvin Gentry can play small to his heart's content without the Suns taking advantage. If Davis allows Tyson Chandler or Alex Len to be too active on the offensive glass the rest of the small ball idea crashes around him.
This team and the Smoothie King Center itself feeds off the energy Davis emits. A locked in Davis can bring the Blender to its feet in a moment with a stunning, near impossible block and hustle play. The rest of the roster will rise to match the effort of its superstar. AD doesn't have to have a great shooting night. He doesn't have to pour in 40 points or knock down 3-pointers. in the absence of Tyreke Evans and Quincy Pondexter it is up to Davis to lead.
