New Orleans Pelicans waive Jimmer Fredette

As the roster wheel continues to turn.

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Jimmer Fredette was waived earlier today by the New Orleans Pelicans. Fredette was completely ineffective in his brief stint with the team this season. He rarely found his way onto the court, logging just 13 minutes across four games.

Those minutes were a complete and utter disaster. The Pelicans posted a -80.2 net rating with Jimmer on the floor. Last night, in a game the Pelicans lost by just seven points, Jimmer was a -9 in just three minutes. He was beat on multiple occasions and even chipped in a turnover for good measure.

The roster now stands at 15 once again. Both Norris Cole and Tyreke Evans are approaching their timelines for return to the court and might be in uniform by this time next week. In addition New Orleans does not have another back-to-back until after Thanksgiving, so Jrue Holiday should be available barring a set back.

Jimmer Fredette will now return to the Westchester Knicks of the NBA D-League. It is unlikely he will be seen in a Pelicans uniform again.
