GAME PREVIEW

No sense in creating another preview for the same opponent in back-to-back days. Especially not after we were forced to witness another horrible stretch where the Pelicans, both the players and the Cheerleader, failed to stem the tide.

If need be, David's preview is still quite relevant; however, the Pels will have to take an entirely different approach from last night. For instance, Brian Roberts needs to do a better job with Jose Calderon. In the game's first possession, he completely failed to read and get through a screen which lead to a wide open Calderon jumper from the foul line. Roberts needs to offer at least some resistance and conversely, avoid the early foul trouble.

The Pelicans must create better spacing. Most other teams pass the ball around the perimeter, but our guys dribble it around and hand off to one another. How is that supposed to create any openings in the paint, or worse, open perimeter shots? If the team keeps attempting less than 10 three's a game, it's going to take a heck of difference in FG%, the amount of FT's or second chances.

On the other end, we need to give a lot more effort. Dallas shot 52.6% from the field, the worst percentage the Pelicans have given up all year. We need to run them off of their spots, get through screens quicker and better contest their jumpshooters.

GAME NOTES

- After yesterday's loss, Monty Williams claimed Tyreke Evans 2nd half DNP was due to his ankle. However, in re-watching the last 2:29 of the 1st half, Evans never once hinted his ankle was giving him any problems. What I did notice, however, was a lack of hustle several times up/down the floor, an overhelp on Nowitzki by not getting back in time for an Ellis three and not rotating to a made Calderon three after Rivers was screened off. Make what you will of this and, as of this writing, there is no word yet regarding Evan's availability for tonight.

- Don't forget to keep placing your All-Star votes for your favorite Pelicans! At least for the ones still standing.
