All kinds of excitement for the Pelicans, both in New Orleans and in Las Vegas. Let's bite the bullets:
- The Jrue Holiday trade went through, finally (I wonder how these trades actually go through - it seems like this one should have gone through before the Evans deal, right?). The Advocate has coverage of the press conference introducing Jrue, as well as a good video from the presser.
- If you missed it, Austin Rivers decided to play like a lottery pick to kick off Summer League action yesterday. He knocked down 24 points on only 15 attempts, and clearly had the best outing on the first day of Summer League. NOLA has a video interview of Bryan Gates talking about how much he likes Rivers - it's good stuff. Monty was pretty pleased with Rivers, as well. Monty noticed that Rivers played with "swag, if that's what you want to call it."
- Summer League personnel notes from John Reid - first, it looks like Lance Thomas has cleared waivers and will be rejoining the Hornets, so look for him to be playing as early as tomorrow's game against Milwaukee. Second, Jeff Withey has been with the team all week but hasn't practiced because not all players in the POR-SAC-NOP trade have passed their physicals - it sounds like he'll be playing on Sunday. Pierre Jackson, however, hasn't joined the team yet, so I doubt he'll be available for the Bucks game.
