Game Preview: Pelicans at Knicks

New, comments
Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

As we've mentioned, the Knicks are reeling and currently sport an 8-game losing streak. And despite playing 6 of their last 8 games on the road, Madison Square Garden may not offer them much relief. They have a 1-6 record at home.

Missing a healthy Tyson Chandler would undoubtedly knock any team down a peg or two, but their problems have been much bigger than just one player. J.R. Smith, Metta World Peace, Raymond Felton, Beno Udrih and Amare Stoudemire have been putrid. Iman Shumpert barely any better. When Andrea Bargnani has been your second best performer, you know your ship is taking on water, and fast.

The Knicks are in the bottom third in offensive rating, defensive rating, field goal%, points per game, scoring margin, points in the paint, free throws (attempted and made) and yada yada yada. Yep, it's not a good time to be Coach Mike Woodson.

On paper, it appears our younger and talented squad should have little trouble. Maintain intensity, not settle for jumpers and push the ball at every turn. Notwithstanding, Pelicans and their fans should not get complacent. We've already witnessed a number of instances of terrible basketball. Back on November 13th, we handed the Utah Jazz their first win of the season and interestingly, brought their 8-game losing streak to an end.
