Per a press release on Pelicans.com:

The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that Ryan Anderson suffered a chip fracture in the second toe of his right foot. Team doctors examined Anderson after he experienced discomfort recently during practice. Anderson is expected to miss 1-3 weeks.

Wow, as if Monty Williams wasn't having enough problems playing musical chairs with the center position. Now it looks like Jason Smith will be thrust into a very prominent role and Greg Steimsma, by default, gets to soak up plenty of leftovers.

As mentioned by MW, Monty may be inclined to start Steimsma again. It would make more sense having Smith attempt to replace the short-term loss of Anderson then the alternative.

Theoretically, Monty could also get creative and play Al-Farouq Aminu some at the 4 or, gasp, give Jeff Withey, Lance Thomas or Arinze Onuaku some minutes. My money would be on Lance Thomas, but let's not dwell on this. Hurry back soon Ryan, we need you!
