ESPN: Jared Sullinger "Red-Flagged" For Medical Concerns

Some potentially huge news from the Worldwide Leader today - Ohio State PF prospect Jared Sullinger has been identified by NBA team doctors as a draft hazard due to injury issues.

From the full ESPN story:

Ohio State Buckeyes big man Jared Sullinger has been medically red flagged by NBA doctors, multiple league sources told ESPN.com on Monday.

<snip?

Sullinger, who is projected to be a lottery pick in the 2012 NBA draft, underwent a series of medical tests at the NBA draft combine a week ago. According to sources, the doctors who looked at Sullinger were concerned with Sullinger's back.

A number of NBA team doctors have reviewed the information from the NBA and have told their front office staff that Sullinger's back issues could shorten his NBA career and some have advised their teams not to draft him in the first round.

Sullinger missed time with Ohio State last year due to back troubles. It's important to note that this is hardly a be all-end all piece of reporting. We've known for some time that Sullinger's back may be iffy, and NBA medical concerns haven't prevented a player like San Antonio's DeJuan Blair - a lottery pick by talent, a second round pick with his knee issues factored in - from being very successful.

Still, it's not exactly the best news, with Sullinger a relatively realistic option for New Orleans at #10.
