Carl Landry Returns to Practice

Landry practiced yesterday without any restrictions for the first time since spraining his left MCL about a month ago. In that same game, the Hornets lost Jason Smith to a concussion and just got him back last week. This also comes amongst news that Eric Gordon is set to return to practice this week. Landry looked good in the practice, according to Monty Williams, and is expected back in the lineup no later than Saturday's match-up against the San Antonio Spurs; barring any setbacks from now until then. Also, I found these words in the article to be fairly cryptic from Monty Williams. On another topic, Williams implied after practice that his future with the franchise isn’t guaranteed once the new ownership group is announced. After this season, Williams has a year remaining on his contract with an option for a fourth year. After leading the Hornets to the playoffs in his first season as coach last season, the team has struggled to 11-34 record this season. "I think any time you coach in this league, you never know what the future is going to hold,’’ Williams said. "I was taught that you put a program in place to move forward regardless if you are in position or not, and that’s the way I coach. "I’m not saying that’s going to happen. I don’t know the future, but if I had to be removed or something like that, I always would want someone to walk in here and say, ‘Man, I don’t have to do a lot, this guys know how to play basketball.’ " Asked what he would he tell the new ownership about the future of the current team, Williams said: "We have some young players and a lot of promise, and we have some young vets that have got better since we’ve been here. If I’m not the coach to coach this team into the future, I know this team is headed in the right direction.’’
