The Grizzly Outlook

Dubbed a playoff contender at the start of the season, Memphis is yet to crack the West's top 8 this season. But even at 19-22, the Grizzlies stand a good chance of making the postseason due to the weak lower teams vying for the 8th spot. As of today, they're 2 and a half games behind Portland for eighth.

Subplots

  • Marc Gasol has seriously regressed this year. He's shooting worse, he's rebounding worse offensively and defensively, he's turning the ball over more frequently, he's getting to the line less, and is producing 11 fewer points per 100 possessions. Oak needs to win the matchup at Center.
  • Zach Randolph, on the other hand, has continued to be excellent. He currently leads the league in offensive rebound rate, and I'd have him in the All Star Game over David West (who is arguably having the best season of his career).
  • Go Hornets.
