I had written a post a couple of months ago on "How to make Anthony Davis an All-Star?"
I was hoping that the city of New Orleans and the Pelicans fans would embrace their franchise player, their rising superstar and their best player on the court and make him an All-Star starter. I had mentioned how Chinese made Yao Ming an All-Star starter over Shaq but I guess we are not as crowded.
But, did we try enough?
When you go to the homepage of clippers nba.com/clippers, it first takes you to the following page:
Did we do that?
Similarly, when you go to nba.com/rockets it first takes you to:
Did we do that?
Yes, Howard and Griffin has national attention and Davis, at 20 years old, is not there yet. And, probably Kevin Love deserves to be a starter at PF, along with Durant at SF and Howard at Center. But, Why didn't we remind every visitor to Pelicans.com to cast a vote for Davis? It makes me sad to see that other teams did so and we did not.
Yes, It was definitely a long shot, but unfortunately, We did not even try.
Similarly, I think other websites on Pelicans did not do enough to raise awareness of All-Star game, voting process and the possibility of having Davis in the game. (Sorry about the criticism.)
I guess everybody is content with watching Davis on Friday at the rising star challenge. I think he deserved much more attention and support.
Anthony Davis leads the league in blocks per game, he is Top5 in offensive rebounds per game, he is Top12 in rebounds per game, he is Top25 in steals per game, Top20 in points per game. He is going to be a strong candidate for the defensive player of the year award.
