One of the central questions surrounding New Orleans' initial pursuit of Sacramento Kings restricted free agent Tyreke Evans was whether he'd be willing to play the bench role Pelicans GM Dell Demps envisioned.
Per Marc Stein, Evans is open to such an arrangement:
Sources say Pelicans, already hot for Evans, were all in when Reke told them he'd be willing to be sixth man in New Orleans if necessary— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) July 4, 2013
It's unclear whether Pelicans 6th man Ryan Anderson will join him on the second unit or start in 2013-2014. But with Evans amenable to playing the Ginobili role in New Orleans (at least 30 minutes a night and a spot on the late game 5-man unit alongside Jrue Holiday, Eric Gordon, Anderson, and Anthony Davis), Monty Williams now has a trio of very versatile guards to work with in the backcourt.
