I was planning on writing a Monday links post, but it rapidly turned into a trade rumors post, since that is what Pelicans news appears to consist of today.
- The Pelicans are supposedly going to begin negotiating with Tyreke Evans as soon as free agency starts (which is today when you're reading this). For a quick update on how good Tyreke Evans is, here's his Basketball-Reference page. After having Sophomore and Junior slumps, he had a good season last year. I suppose that if Evans is signed, both Gordon and Vasquez are clearly on the trading block.
- Kevin Martin is drawing interest from the Pelicans, among other teams. OKC, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Dallas, and Detroit are also coming knocking, per Marc Spears. I doubt Martin will be heading to New Orleans, but you can file this rumor under "Yeah, Eric Gordon probably won't be in New Orleans next season."
- And Marc Spears is also saying that the Pelicans are also interested to Andre Iguodala. This wouldn't be even plausible without moving at least $10M of salary (whatup, EJ), but it would fit in with the new "win soon" philosophy of the Pelicans, I suppose.
- The Advocate has a summary of the Pelicans' offseason status and their possibilities for free agency. They quote Dell Demps as saying that Tom Benson is willing to pay in free agency - the question is, of course, exactly how much he's willing to pay.
