Austin Rivers Returns to "Doing Basketball Work"

USA TODAY Sports

Per John Reid at the Times-Pic, Austin Rivers had his cast removed from his broken right hand Thursday.Three months after fracturing his right hand that abruptly ended his season, New Orleans Pelicans guard Austin Rivers is back doing basketball work.

Pelicans Coach Monty Williams said Thursday that Rivers' cast has been removed and though he's working, he's being monitored.

``He looks really good,'' Williams said.

Rivers, who could not be reached for comment Thursday, is among four Pelicans' players, which includes Eric Gordon, Greivis Vasquez and Jason Smith, that are spending this offseason trying to recover from injuries sustained during the regular season.

Rivers looks on schedule to make his second appearance in Las Vegas Summer League action after a disappointing showing a year ago.
