Sunday Discussion: Defense

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sport

Eric Gordon's re-introduction, we theorized, would change a lot of things.

He definitely hasn't been great on offense so far -- his offensive efficiency differential currently checks in at -15, not far off from Austin Rivers' abysmal -21. But one of his biggest contributions has been the rendering of his teammates to more natural positions and roles on the floor. Greivis Vasquez has been able to play off the ball and post up a bit more, Al Aminu's been able to float into the paint more unnoticed, and so forth.

This normalization of roles has been noticeable on defense as well; since Gordon's returned, the overall defensive efficiency of the team has been about 104 points allowed per 100 possessions. League average is 105, while the overall team average without Gordon was around 108.5. A defensive efficiency of 104 would rank in the league's top 10.

So today's discussion focuses on the defense we can expect going forward. What specific changes have you noticed with Gordon on the floor? Do you think this improved defense is sustainable? What do you like as our best defensive lineup? Who's the biggest defensive liability among players that get regular minutes?
