NBA.com's David Aldridge and CBS Sports' Ken Berger report that free agent power forward David West appears on the verge of a move to the Boston Celtics, on a three year deal worth between $27M and $29M. West would be dealt in a sign and trade with the expiring contract of Jermaine O'Neal being sent back to New Orleans in return, as well as possibly another player like sophomore guard Avery Bradley.
The move would seem to make sense for the Hornets, a franchise in transition, with Chris Paul expected to be moved in the coming days. The Hornets could certainly have offered West much more than the $9M/year the Celtics are offering him, but have apparently chosen to move in a different direction. Best of luck to West who's been an absolute professional for the Hornets, on and off the court, for much of the past decade.
