There's basically no Hornets news (outside of yesterday's abomination of a game) out there today, so I'll forgo the links this morning.

The 180 degree turn we've seen the Hornets pull over the past three weeks has been nothing short of tremendous. Consider this: on November 15th, Marc Stein had New Orleans ranked #1 in his power poll, the Hornets had the league's second best point differential, Chris Paul was routinely destroying opposing defenses in the fourth quarter, Emeka Okafor was controlling the paint on both ends of the floor, and there were reports that Gary Chouest would indeed take over the team by the end of the year.

Since that date, Okafor has played one of the worst stretches of basketball of his career, Chris Paul went through a stretch where he mysteriously passed up shot after shot, the Hornets have been dealt four double digit losses, we learned about an attendance benchmark opt-out clause (that we're on pace to miss with ease), I don't even want to know where Stein ranks us today, and, oh yeah, we're now owned by the National Basketball Association.

It would be hilarious if it weren't so sad.

I suppose the one thing we can take solace in is that we now know how quickly things can change in this league. Maybe in three weeks, Aaron Gray and Marcus Thornton are roster regulars (D.J. Mbenga's contract becomes fully guaranteed on January 1st, so he could be gone soon). Maybe in three weeks, we'll have news about potential NOLA buyers. Maybe in three weeks, Monty Williams and his coaching staff will have realized that we need to put just as much effort into offense as we do on defense.

Maybe in three weeks, none of these things will have happened. As fans, all we can do is wait and see.
